NYSO presents its second concert of the 2018-19 season, “Power and Peace” at Wentz Concert Hall. This romantic, contemporary performance explores the wonder of chamber music. Chamber music highlights a soloist within the musical comfort of a full orchestra. Different instruments and sounds come together to move as one. The performance also features Dr. Mark Ponzo, a soloist, professor and trumpet extraordinaire. The Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra thanks Dr. Ponzo for sharing his passion with young musicians.

“Power and Peace” takes the audience through the baroque of Tartini to the contemporary sounds of Williams and McCabe. Groups from both Encore and Philharmonia take to the stage offering something for everyone. This includes majestic brass, calming flutes and woodwind quintets.

The concert concludes with musicians coming together for a “peaceful” farewell through Finale from Symphony No. 5 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The “power” of Beethoven and all of the NYSO musicians creates a grand conclusion to the performance.

The Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra is an organization dedicated to inspiring musicians and communities with the power of music. NYSO provides classical training and high level performances for young and mature musicians alike.

NYSO’s next performance will be May 19, 2019 at Wentz Concert Hall. The program begins at 4:00 p.m. and features NYSO Concerto competition winners.
