When You Go Back, Give Back

In this episode, Dana is joined by college graduates who have taken the Homecoming Challenge; an initiative tasking alumni of all colleges and universities to connect with freshman by donating their money, time, and wisdom.

Dana Michelle Davenport, an alumnus of Spelman College, joined forces with Morehouse College graduate Chris Evans in 2017 to create the challenge and encourage more alumni to invest in the next generation.

Any and all college graduates across the country can participate in the Homecoming Challenge by sending envelopes with cash and business cards to an alma mater, attending homecoming events and introducing themselves to freshman on campus, and lending advice or a listening ear.

“It’s so important, pouring into college freshman and letting them know that we’re here and that they’re not alone,” Dana says on her show.

“No student has enough money or enough food.  So I think they see it as an unexpected blessing,” says Lewis Kennebrew, graduate of Tuskegee University.  “And I think it’s important for [freshman] to see how successful alumni of that university can be.”
