A little background on Joe Kozminski
I am an educator, a scientist, and a father of three in District 203 schools. I am honored to have served District 203 students and the community as a School Board Member since 2019. I am passionate about education! I have been teaching physics at Lewis University for 18 years. I also do science outreach, primarily with K-12 students, and I conduct research in climate vulnerability inputs like air quality and urban heat islands.
Between my work on the District 203 School Board and being chair of the Physics Department for over a decade, I have significant leadership, policy, and budget experience. I have also held leadership roles on committees, task forces, and boards of several professional organizations.
What does Joe Kozminski want to accomplish if elected to the Naperville 203 School Board?
As a School Board Member, I am a dedicated leader working to ensure ALL students receive a high-quality education in a safe and welcoming environment and have access to the academic, social-emotional, mental health, and other supports they need for success. Closing achievement gaps and expanding access to early childhood education are two of my related priority areas. I support sustaining and expanding partnerships with community organizations, and businesses to provide students with more enrichment activities and service, internship, and job-shadowing opportunities that can give them valuable skills and experiences.
I am also fiscally responsible, voting to save taxpayers about $20 million during my term, and I consider sustainability in decision-making with the goals of reducing the District’s carbon footprint and reducing the District’s energy expenses. I will continue to listen to the ideas and concerns of the community, to carefully consider available data and research in making decisions, and to work collaboratively with the other six school board members to provide a world-class education for all students in District 203.
