91st Street Construction

Construction on 91st Street starts this week to improve the roadway between Wolf’s Crossing Road and Schoger Drive. The street will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day with the exception of local traffic from the start of construction until mid-July, when it is scheduled to be complete. Vehicles will be detoured to Normantown Road and Schoger Drive. The start date is dependent on weather.

Living Colour at Ribfest

Ribfest announced that Living Colour will perform as a supporting act to Billy Idol on July 3. Living Colour’s sound is a mix of rock, funk and hip-hop, which launched them into the limelight more than 30 years ago. The two-time Grammy winning band joins a lineup that already includes Flo Rida on July 4 and Brantley Gilbert on July 5. Ribfest officials said the July 6 headliner will be announced soon.

Riverview Farmstead

History came alive for visitors at the Riverview Farmstead Preserve tour. The group explored Thomas and Margret Clow’s property and got a closer look into the farm equipment and household items they used. Though the land was settled in 1850, the Clow family is the prominent owners after they purchased it in 1858. If you’d like to visit the farmstead, there will be another tour on Saturday, July 20.

Goose Eggs

There are at least three young goslings roaming about Stella the Goose’s nest, which she made at Toyota of Naperville for the second year in a row. Stella is very protective of her babies, so if you decide to take a gander, be sure to stay behind the coned-off area so that the new family doesn’t feel threatened.
