Bad Company at Ribfest:
There’s a rock and roll fantasy coming to Naperville’s Ribfest as Bad Company has signed on to headline on July 6. The classic rock band will take the Navistar Main Stage on the festival’s final night at Knoch Park. Tickets are available on the Ribfest website. Next year the festival will be held in Romeoville, due to renovations taking place in Knoch Park.
Wine Festival Canceled:
After 16 years, the Naperville Wine Festival has been cancelled. Naper Settlement spokeswoman Abbey Bobzin says the company that runs the event, KemperLesnik, has informed them they are no longer producing any wine festivals in the area. The festival was to be held at the Settlement this August. They’d been host to the event for its first eight years, until it was moved to CityGate. The festival then returned to the Settlement in 2017. This news comes just one month after the announcement that Christkindlmarket, which had also been held on the museum grounds, would not be returning this year.
New Executive Director at Library:
Dave Della Terza will be taking over as the new Executive Director of the Naperville Public Library. Della Terza has worked for the library for the past twelve years, most recently in the role of Deputy Director. He replaces Julie Rothenfluh who is retiring this June after 22 years of service at the library.
Research & Design Showcase:
Planes, boats, drones, and racing cars. Today some young engineers showed off their remote control projects in a special Research & Design Showcase at Naperville North. All semester long, groups of students designed, built, and tested their ideas to get some hands on learning experience in the Career and Technology field. They used 3D printers, and an assortment of materials and tools to create their projects.
