North Central College’s Championship Parade And Rally
The North Central College Football team will be honored today with a championship parade around town. The City of Naperville will celebrate the school’s first ever football national championship win over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in December. The parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. Fire Station 7, 1380 Aurora Ave., and from there the team will be led by a police and fire escort to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium with a rally slated to begin at 4 p.m.. New Costco Coming To Naperville
The City of Naperville announced today that it will welcome its second Costco location in the city. Costco will be redeveloping parts of the East Ogden Mall area, which is where it will be located, that have been vacant for seven years, and will include a club facility as well as a gas station. The City of Naperville has focused their efforts on the East Ogden corridor over the past several years, and Costco will join businesses that have flocked to the area like the recently opened Guzman y Gomez restaurant. It will be the second Costco in Naperville joining the one along Route 59.
‘Memorial Field’ Name Propose for Knoch Park Field 5
Naming rights were the talk of last night’s Park District Board meeting. Naperville resident Ray Kinney approached the board asking for Knoch Park Field 5 to be renamed to Memorial Field, in honor of Justin Wegner, Connor Hunt, and other young athletes who died too early. Kinney also plans to privately fundraise for a new scoreboard for the field, which would be named the Justin Wegner Memorial Scoreboard. The board also plans to make 95th Street Community Plaza the official name of the development in south Naperville. All three of those names will come back to the board after 60 days for a final vote.
Naper Settlement’s ‘HERstory’ Campaign
Naper Settlement wants to share your story, for “HERstory”. This year Naper Settlement is promoting the “Herstory” campaign, a celebration of not just women’s history, but also women’s role in shaping our future. The settlement hopes to gather 100 stories about 100 women in the Naperville community, submitted via their website. The stories will then be shared complimenting the “Women’s Wave of Change” exhibit, coming to the settlement this November.
