Comprehensive Master Plan Update
Naperville residents got a look at the city’s baseline Comprehensive Master Plan. Representatives from Houseal Lavigne Associates, who is consulting on the plan, gave a presentation and answered questions last night at the municipal center. The plan will serve as a guide for development across different areas of the city, as well as providing goals for things like affordable housing and sustainability. Residents were invited to provide feedback at the end of the session. Houseal Lavigne said the final plan should be ready in early 2020.
District 204
District 204 officials gave an update on their 2019-2020 facility projects at last night’s board meeting. Todd DePaul said hundreds of elementary classrooms now have air conditioning thanks to the $4.8 million special project the board approved earlier this year. He also gave updates on several other projects and previewed some of the district’s 2020-2021 projects like installing solar panels on Metea Valley, and renovating Waubonsie Valley’s gym bleachers. His full presentation can be found on the district’s website.
Principals Honored
Congratulations go out to Metea Valley principal Darrell Echols for being named High School Principal of the Year and Waubonsie Valley’s assistant principal, Charles Bibbs for being named High School Assistant Principal of the Year by the DuPage Region of the Illinois Principal Association. The award recognizes those who have demonstrated a positive impact on their students and learning community. Both will advance for consideration at the state level in their respective categories.
REFUEL
Dealer Inspire brought a full day of focus and perspective to Naperville today with its third annual REFUEL event. National speakers like Chris Gardner, the inspiration for the film The Pursuit of Happyness, joined local leaders like Nicki Anderson to inspire the crowd.
