Comprehensive Master Plan Input

The City of Naperville is hosting two simultaneous workshops to discuss the city’s comprehensive master plan. From 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, residents are invited to either the Municipal Center or the 95th Street Library to share their thoughts and learn more about the major update the city is currently making to the plan. Though the comprehensive master plan has been routinely updated since it was created in 1960, this update will address the major developments Naperville has recently seen and make the document more user-friendly. For more information, you can visit Naperville.il.us/master-plan-update/.

Park Board President

There’s a new president of the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners. Rich Janor was unanimously voted by his fellow commissioners to serve as the board’s president. This will be Janor’s third term as president of the board since first being elected as a commissioner in 2011, and he said he’s most looking forward to the public-facing responsibilities of the position. Mike Reilly will step down as president and return to the role of commissioner. Mike King will serve as the new vice president.

National Night Out Registration

It’s not too late to register your neighborhood for National Night Out 2019. Commonly called “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” the August 6 event encourages residents to host block parties to build neighborhood spirit and police/community partnership. Last year, nearly 50 neighborhoods hosted an event along with Naperville police and fire personnel and other city officials. Tomorrow is the last day to register, which you can do on the city’s website.

Champions Day

Naperville North athletics will be honored at Arlington International Racecourse tomorrow. The “Champions Day” event will celebrate the school’s athletic triumphs from the past year, including state championships in girls soccer, boys soccer, girls cross country, and competitive dance. Their trophies will appear alongside the Cubs 2016 World Series trophy, Northwestern football’s 2017 and 2018 Bowl trophies, and plenty of other hardware.
