Craft Beer Week

Starting today brew lovers can enjoy some delicious deals on their favorite craft beers. The Downtown Naperville Alliance and Dine Naperville have teamed up to bring the first ever Craft Beer Week to the city. Community members can enjoy some special deals on their favorite stouts, pilsners, and much more during the weeklong event. And it’s not just about the brews. Some of the roughly 20 restaurants participating are offering specials on food, and hosting events with craft beer as their focus. A full list of participating restaurants can be found on Napervillecraftbeerweek.com.

Solar Farm

At the latest Planning and Zoning Commission meeting the group approved variances to allow for the City of Naperville to have a solar farm. The photovoltaic system will be located near Plainfield-Naperville Road, and would house 3,500 solar panels covering about six acres on the city’s Springbrook property. The Naperville project is expected to produce more than 1.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. That amount is enough to power approximately 145 homes annually.

Robotic Open House

Naperville North recently held an open house to show off how they’ve been teaching about technology. During the open house, community members were treated to a showcase of the Huskies’ robot called Luminara. It showed off its impressive throwing, moving and lifting skills. The Huskies robotics team built the marvelous machine with the hope to enter it in competitive robotics competitions around the state later this school year.

Regional Champs

A pair of local teams brought home regional championships in girls basketball last night. Benet Academy showed why they are the top seed in the sectional by defeating Waubonsie Valley 64-27. The Redwings move on to face Oswego on Monday. Naperville North erased a seven point fourth quarter deficit to complete a thrilling come from behind win over West Aurora. The 49-43 win gave the Huskies their first regional title in over a decade. They will face Bolingbrook on Tuesday in the sectional semi final.
