Election results:

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico has won another term in office, winning 52% of the vote according to unofficial results with all precincts reporting. But challenger Rocky Caylor is not yet willing to concede, saying he’s waiting until all ballots have been counted.

Also holding onto their seats – Naperville city council members Paul Hinterlong and Patty Gustin. They’ll likely be joined on the dais by newcomers Patrick Kelly and Theresa Sullivan, who came in third and fourth, respectively. Sullivan’s lead over her next closest competitor, Bruce Hanson, currently stands at 273 votes.

In District 203, the three open seats were taken by incumbents Janet Yang Rohr and Kristine Gericke, and newcomer Joseph Kozminski.

District 204 saw all three incumbents seal a win, with Natasha Grover, Mark Rising and Justin Karubus holding on to their seats for another four years.

As for Naperville Township voters, 75% of them voted in favor of abolishing the Naperville Township road district, with that group’s responsibilities being shifted to the township. This would eliminate an earlier plan voted on in 2017, which would have had that road district merge with the Lisle Township road district. That consolidation was set to take place by 2021, but had not yet been acted on.

Coyne To Run For District 5:

In future election news, Naperville city councilman Kevin Coyne has announced he’ll be running for the District 5 seat on the DuPage County Board in 2020. In a Facebook post overnight, he expressed his displeasure with the current state of the Republican Party in our area. He hopes to bring back conservative principals, and will fight for pro-life initiatives and small government reforms.
