eLo Consortium to Dissolve
Last night, District 203 voted to dissolve the intergovernmental agreement of Expanding Learning Opportunities, or eLo, which provides pooled online high school courses between three area school districts. The eLo consortium between District 203, District 204 and Wheaton Warrenville District 200 will dissolve but each district will continue to provide online learning experiences for students independently. The three districts have collectively decided to dissolve the consortium in order to provide more personalized online coursework based on the needs of students at their schools. The consortium formed in 2014 and will run through the spring 2020 semester.
Future Ready Tech Plan
District 204 is considering how to best improve its Future Ready Technology Plan. Last night the Chief Technology Officer presented the plan to the board, which included bettering the Wi-Fi calling inside school buildings and implementing Microsoft Translation to help bridge language barriers. The plan also includes a reduction in the digital equity gap. The district announced a new partnership with 1Million Project, which will provide underprivileged high school students access to a portable hotspot at no charge.
Top City for Homeowners
Naperville has been named the top city for homeowners in Illinois. Insurify, an online insurance comparison site, analyzed records from City-Data.com to find the top cities in each state with the highest percentage of residents living in homes that they own. Naperville came in the number one spot for Illinois and ranked sixth in the nation. The report found Naperville’s proportion of homeowners at 74.2 percent.
