Extreme heat in Naperville area

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Naperville area from noon to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 1. The heat index is expected to reach 100 to 110 degrees.

The service warned that extreme temperatures and high humidity could lead to heat illness. Officials advised precautionary actions, including drinking fluids, staying indoors in air conditioning and out of the sun, and checking in on friends and neighbors.

The heat is expected to continue into Wednesday, with a predicted high of 93 degrees and a possible heat index of 104.

Neuqua grad Mark Gronowski signs with Miami Dolphins practice squad

Naperville native and 2020 Neuqua Valley graduate Mark Gronowski became the latest area player to join an NFL roster, signing a deal Monday to join the Miami Dolphins practice squad to begin the 2026 season.

Gronowski originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dolphins following the NFL Draft in late April after a standout career at South Dakota State and the University of Iowa.
