Family Displaced by Fire

A family of three has been displaced from their home after a fire occurred there yesterday afternoon. Naperville firefighters responded to the home located on the 900 block of Matthew Court, where they found flames coming from the attic. The family and pets were safety removed as the firefighters extinguished the fire within 45 minutes. The house was declared uninhabitable as a result of the damage, and the cause is currently under investigation.

Naper Pride’s Interfaith Service

Naper Pride hosted an interfaith service this weekend as a way to unite the LGBTQ community and religious faiths. Congregation Beth Shalom, Westley United Methodist Church, and Community Methodist Church joined the service to show their support and lead the prayers for the almost 100 people in attendance. Naper Pride and the religious groups hope they can lessen the disconnect between religion and the LGBTQ community, and encourage more faiths to become accepting.

Naperville Robotics Competition

Over the weekend, mySTEMbuddy and NanoBeasts hosted the Naperville Robotics Competition, where fifth through twelfth grade students went head to head presenting their drones and robots. The competition is part of a national NASA event known as the “Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge.” And the special prize for the winners “Astrobeasts” will be launching off to Maryland for a trip to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Congratulations to all the competitors.
