Fire Marshal Safety
The Illinois State Fire Marshal is encouraging residents to stay safe with summer activities. When using grills make sure they’re away from the home and kept clean. A build up of grease can increase chances of a fire. Avoid lighting a campfire on windy or dry days. And, always have a hose or bucket of water close to a fire pit when burning, as well as when using fireworks like sparklers. Drive, Drop, and Donate
The sixth annual Drive, Drop, and Donate has begun! Hosted by the DuPage Credit Union, the event is open today for all to drop off their broken or unneeded electronics, such as printers or fax machines, as well as sensitive documents so they can be properly recycled or shredded. A minimum of a $10 donation is required to use their service, with all the proceeds going to the company’s “We’ve Got Your Back” backpack fundraiser, which buys backpacks and school supplies for DuPage County students in need. In past years Drive, Drop, and Donate has raised around $3,000.
Fine Art Fair
This weekend the Naperville Fine Art and Artisan Fair will take over Naper Settlement for its 60th annual event. Sponsored by the Naperville Woman’s Club, over 140 artists will display and sell their work. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the woman’s club’s charities. Check out the fair Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Little League Championships
The Naperville Little League City Championship games are set for tomorrow afternoon. In the Supreme Championship at 2 p.m., Chicago Premium Outlets will take on Meatheads after the two teams won their semi final games on Tuesday. At 4:30 in the Majors championship game, Platinum Partners Realtors will challenge Ambrose Plumbing. Both games will be played at Nike Park. The full broadcast of the Majors Championship can be seen on NCTV17 on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. while the Supreme Championship will air Monday night at 7:30.
