Four Injured in Crash:
A Naperville woman suffered life-threatening injuries and three others were hurt after a two-car crash yesterday at the corner of Hobson and Wehrli roads. Police say shortly after 1 p.m., the 66-year-old woman was traveling north on Wehrli in a 2019 silver Subaru Forester, and disobeyed the red light. Her car was then struck by a 2019 green Subaru Outback heading west on Hobson. The 21-year old Streamwood man driving the Outback was not injured, but the driver of the Forester was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Also injured and taken for care were her two passengers, and a passenger from the Outback. No charges have been filed, as the investigation is ongoing. New Electronic Poll Books:
DuPage County will be getting 1,000 new electronic poll books for next year’s elections. The DuPage County Board voted yesterday to approve the purchase, enabling the replacement of aging devices used in the past. The poll books and support services will be supplied by KNOWINK, LLC, and will cost about $2 million to be paid out over the next four years, $1.52 million of which will be paid this year for the hardware.
Opioid Fatality Review Team:
DuPage County will also be starting an opioid fatality review team, thanks to funding from a $1.1 million federal Bureau of Justice Assistance grant. The team will focus on finding common factors in opioid overdose deaths and determining what factors contribute to opioid abuse. About 20 percent of the grant funds will be used for the team – the rest will help provide medication-assisted treatment to help jail detainees addicted to opioids.
Kim White Co-Authors Book:
Career & Networking Center‘s Kim White has a new book that’s all about helping graduates transition into their careers. “Adulting Made Easy(er): Navigating from Campus to Career” was co-authored by Barbara Schultz, who has a background in Human Resources, and financial advisor Gerald O’Connor. The three combined their talents to write the book for today’s youth, as a guide to help them and their parents talk about their career paths, with some interviewing and networking tips along the way. The book is available now on Amazon.
