Great Strides Walk Update

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has issued a statement concerning the Great Strides walk which was interrupted by an active shooter drill being conducted at nearby Centennial Beach. Part of the statement reads: “First and foremost, we are thankful that everyone who attended the walk is physically safe. We share the community’s disappointment that this incident disrupted Great Strides and caused distress during a cherished annual tradition to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis, celebrate loved ones who are fighting CF, and honor individuals who have passed.” The Naperville Park District is holding a meeting this afternoon to discuss the events and will issue its own statement following the meeting.

Linden Oaks Vigil

Linden Oaks Behavioral Health at Edward Hospital hosted their 16th annual Candlelight Vigil for eating disorders. Speakers told their personal success stories and how they’ve recovered, while one pair of parents shared how they lost their daughter. This year’s theme was “embracing transformation and becoming the change,” providing support and hope to recovering individuals. The program ended with a candle lighting ceremony.
