House Fire

Naperville emergency responders rescued one person from a house fire yesterday morning. Units arrived at the residence on the 800 block of North Main Street and found two people had already evacuated the split-level home. The third occupant was rescued from the first floor and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes and the home was deemed uninhabitable. The fire department also rescued several pets from the scene, though one pet is still unaccounted for.

Cyber Monday Safety

To celebrate its “A Safer Naper” campaign’s 24th month, the Naperville Police Department is featuring 24 Days of Safety. Today, the topic is Internet Shopping Safety for Cyber Monday. Tips include keeping current software and virus protection, only downloading files from sites you know, and using strong passwords. For more information on 24 Days of Safety, go to the A Safer Naper website.

Elves Hiding Downtown

Kids are on the hunt for elves in Downtown Naperville. Sixty local businesses have Santa’s helpers hidden – some in plain sight and others in a sneaky spot. If you find at least 30 pointy-eared fellows, you’ll be able to enter a raffle for the chance to win some gift cards. The search for the elves will go on until December 20.

NCC Knocks Off #1

North Central College shocked the college football world on Saturday in one of the best games of the year. The Cardinals knocked off #1 ranked Mount Union on the road in a 59-52 shootout. Broc Rutter threw for over 500 yards and scored six touchdowns, throwing four of them to Andrew Kamienski. The second round defeat is the earliest playoff loss for the Purple Raiders since 1994. NCC advances to the Division III quarterfinals for just the third time in school history and will host Delaware Valley at noon this Saturday. You can watch the game live right here on NCTV17 with pregame starting at 11:45.
