95th Street/Book Road Intersection

The intersection of 95th Street and Book Road has been rejected for federal funding from the Highway Safety Improvement Program. City staff submitted their favored plan for the expansion of the intersection, which could cost up to $2.4 million. But when that plan was presented to city council, residents weren’t happy, saying expansion would lead to a more dangerous environment. Council directed staff to reinitiate with the public, but the funding application was not withdrawn. Now that it’s been rejected, city staff is delaying the project and reengaging with residents until the next funding cycle in 2022.

5th Avenue Steering Committee

Naperville residents are welcome to attend a meeting of the 5th Avenue Steering Committee. Developer Ryan Companies will present its baseline concept at the meeting, which will address parking, green space, cost, design, and other topics. The project was put on hold for several months as council discussed issues like the DuPage Children’s Museum’s location and parking. This meeting, which will be held in Council Chambers at 6 p.m., is the first time the committee has met since August 2018.
