Jeopardy James Heads To Finals:
Naperville native James Holzhauer is advancing to the finals in the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions. Holzhauer won yesterday’s semifinal game with a total of $30,156, securing his spot in the next round. There he’ll face Chicago librarian Emma Boettcher, who bested him earlier this year, breaking his 32-game streak. Their third competitor will be determined in today’s semifinal playoff. Whoever brings in the highest tally over the Thursday and Friday matches will win the $250,000 grand prize.
Property Tax Drop:
Residents can expect a slight decrease in property taxes paid to the Naperville Park District. At a meeting last night, park district staff presented a preliminary budget to the board of commissioners, which showed an average Naperville homeowner’s taxes will drop from $368 this year to $364 in 2020. The park district will also tackle some major projects in the next year, including the 95th Street Community Plaza, the redevelopment of Knoch Park, and Phase I of Wolf’s Crossing Community Park. The park board will vote on the budget on December 12.
WhirlyBall Coming Soon:
The wait for WhirlyBall is almost over. The entertainment venue is set to open their Naperville location on November 23. The main draw is WhirlyBall, loosely described as lacrosse played in bumper cars, but the 41,000 square foot venue will also offer bowling, laser tag, and the Pivot Room Restaurant. The 3103 Odyssey Court location will replace the company’s first location in Lombard.
Permanent Daylight Saving Time?:
And finally – springing forward and falling back could soon become a thing of the past. A bill voted through the Illinois Senate yesterday would make Daylight Saving Time the year round standard in our state, effective the second Sunday of March 2020. The bill now moves on to the House. If passed, Illinois would be the third state to make Daylight Saving Time permanent.
