Man In Custody After Domestic Disturbance:
A man was taken into custody this morning after a reported domestic disturbance at a home on the 2800 block of Bluewater Circle. When police responded to the residence just before 5 a.m., they found a resident of the home outside, who said the alleged offender was still in the house. Due to the nature of the call, the department’s Special Response Team was called in, and neighbors were told to stay inside. About four hours later, the suspect complied with police instructions and exited the home, and was taken into custody without incident. Nearby, Welch Elementary School kept students inside as a precaution until the situation was resolved. No injuries were reported in the incident.
DuPage County Board Discusses Marijuana Sales:
The DuPage County Board had its first major discussion about recreational marijuana sales, as the drug becomes legal statewide come January 1. Yesterday the group looked at how the new law relates specifically to zoning regulations in the county. They were presented with three potential marijuana dispensary sites in unincorporated areas, which led to a discussion about whether the county should opt in or out of sales altogether. The group decided to delay that vote until a later date, so they could hold a special meeting in the coming weeks to hear from law enforcement, finance, and health care professionals. The board hopes to make its final decision before November.
Jeopardy James Back in News:
Naperville native James Holzhauer, better known as Jeopardy James, is back in the news. A tweet he made about the surprise retirement of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has some wondering if he’s hinting that he threw his final Jeopardy game on purpose. On Saturday James posted, “Imagine reaching the pinnacle of the only job you’ve ever trained for, finding no joy in it, and having the guts to do the right thing for yourself even though millions of fans will hate you for it.” But he then followed up on Monday with, “New game: imagine you pulled off the most dominant upset in @Jeopardy history and people won’t shut up about how the 32x champ must have let you win.” Holzhauer will be back on Jeopardy! for the Tournament of Champions, airing in November.
