Naperville Native Sets Jeopardy Record:
Who is…a record breaker? Naperville native James Holzhauer has set the record for highest single-day winnings on Jeopardy, after tallying up $110,914 on yesterday’s show. Roger Craig set the previous record of $77,000 in 2010. Holzhauer is a professional sports gambler now living in Las Vegas, and his bets have all contained nods to his family. For example, his record breaking total is significant as it mirrors his daughter’s birthday: 11/09/14. The Naperville North alumnus has had a four-day run on the show so far, with total earnings of $244,365.
D204 Superintendent Retiring:
Indian Prairie School District 204 Superintendent Karen Sullivan will be retiring in 2020. She announced her plans to the school board on Monday night, letting them know she’ll be stepping down when her current contract expires in June of that year. Sullivan has worked in the district for 22 years, serving as superintendent for the past five.
Moser Tower Decision Delayed:
Naperville’s City Council will have to wait a little longer to hear the Riverwalk Commission’s recommendation for Moser Tower. Corrosion and deterioration in the structure require either a fix that could run from $1.3 million to $2.4 million; or, its demolition, which would cost about $660,000. Voting on its fate was supposed to happen today, but local quality control experts are questioning the cost estimates for repairs. The commission will re-evaluate the recommendation and vote on it at next month’s meeting.
