Opioid Statistics

A total of 98 opioid-related deaths occurred in DuPage County in 2018. That statistic is from DuPage County Coroner Dr. Richard Jorgensen, who released data on the opioid epidemic. The total number of deaths is up three percent from 2017 and 92 percent from 2015. Opioid drug use in DuPage County continues to grow and Jorgensen said his office will continue to combat the epidemic via education and the DuPage Narcan Program.

Winter Weather Watch

Snow is in the forecast for this evening and the City of Naperville has some friendly reminders for residents. Sidewalks in front of a home or business must be shoveled within 48 hours of the snowfall ending to ensure pedestrians have somewhere to walk. Also, don’t park on the street as it makes it more difficult to properly plow a street. The city hopes to have all 1500 lane miles of roadway plowed within 15 hours of the end of the snowfall.

Naperville Native Dances Around the World

A Naperville native has gone viral again! Matt Bray has made several videos of himself dancing, but his latest project is his biggest yet. The video is titled “1000 People of Dance” and features Bray traveling around the world, dancing with, you guessed it, 1000 different people. Though the video already has 120,000 views in three days, it will be tough to break his personal record. Bray’s 2014 video titled “100 Days of Dance” showed him doing the same dance in his room and has been viewed over seven and a half million times.

DVC Bowling

History was made at the DVC Girls Bowling Position Night Meet last night. Neuqua Valley won the meet, but, by finishing in second, Metea Valley secured enough points to win the DVC championship. It’s the first conference title in Metea girls bowling history.

In other bowling news, tomorrow is the boys sectional championship in Woodridge. Naperville North junior Jason Barba qualified as an individual, while Naperville Central will compete as a team after finishing in second place at the regional meet last weekend. Best of luck to all the bowlers at the sectional.
