Armed Home Invasion
A Naperville woman was held at gunpoint during a home invasion on Saturday night. The Naperville Police Department report two armed men wearing ski masks entered the victim’s home on the 2600 block of High Meadow Road and held her at gun point while robbing her home. The suspects then fled on foot, possibly toward Route 59. The victim wasn’t injured, but electronics and currency were taken. Both suspects are described as black males, approximately six-feet-tall, and wearing dark clothing and masks. The NPD asks anyone with information to call (630) 420-6666.
Three Charged
Bail was denied for the three people charged in the January 2018 murder of a Naperville man. 20-year-old Michael Armendariz disappeared in last year and his body was later found in a dumpster on the south side of Chicago. Cassandra Green, a childhood friend of Armendariz, along with her boyfriend Ernest Collins and his mother Candice Jones have all been charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery, and concealment of a homicidal death.
Black History Awareness
The Black History Awareness Club honored two legendary African-American airmen this weekend. Oscar Wilkerson, a Tuskegee airman, and William Norwood, the first African-American pilot and captain for United Airlines, were celebrated at the event. Nearly 700 gathered at Bolingbrook High School to hear the airmen speak about their experiences, along with other memorable performances.
Girls Bowling Qualifiers
And congratulations to a pair of Metea Valley Girl bowlers who qualified for state for the first time. Sophomore Meredith Olef and junior Alicia Anton both rolled identical scores of 1173 at the Hinsdale South sectional and will head to state this weekend in Rockford.
