NCC & NACC’s Startup Grind

North Central College has partnered with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce to be designated as a Startup Grind Chapter. The global hub of entrepreneurs is located in 600 cities and now Naperville is the second chapter in Illinois. The partnership will provide networking for North Central students with events like last night’s inaugural Startup Grind Fireside chat, titled “Evolving Venture Capital to Meet the Needs of Today’s Entrepreneurs.” It featured New Stack Ventures founder and managing partner Nick Moran. This was just the first of five events their chapter will hold this year.

Trade Apprenticeship Expo

Last night, the DuPage County Trade Apprenticeship Expo gave visitors the chance to get hands on with different trades. Eighteen building trade organizations set up booths and chatted with aspiring apprentices about the benefits of working in the trades. They even got to interact with demonstrations like pipe bending and virtual heavy machinery.

5th Ave Farmers Market

Tomorrow morning the 5th Avenue Naperville Farmers Market opens for their summer season. Check out over 14 local vendors selling produce, flowers, honey, and even candles. The market is open every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, and will host a variety of events through their last day on October 26.

Dogs in Downtown

It’s paws-itively the start of the Dog Days of Summer. This year’s Downtown Naperville summer sculptures are now on display, featuring 20 different pieces all painted by local artists and sponsored by local businesses. And catch more dogs at Two Bostons’ pet parade tomorrow morning. Similar to their Howl-o-ween pet parade, you’ll walk through downtown to every sculpture location with your leashed pet. It kicks off at 9 a.m. and more information can be found on the Downtown Naperville website.
