Park District Tax Savings
Taxpayers can expect to see some future savings thanks to the Naperville Park District. Last night the Board of Commissioners reported that the average property owner would save $10 next year. This past year a homeowner paid $363 in property taxes to the park district. That number should decrease to $353 in 2020, and will be followed by a $6 increase in 2021. Fifty percent of the district’s budget comes from property taxes.
Minimum Wage Increases
The park district also discussed estimates concerning the minimum wage increases coming in the next several years. Illinois’ minimum wage is currently $8.25 per hour, but will increase by a dollar on January 1, 2020, and will eventually increase by a dollar every year until it reaches $15 per hour in 2025. The park district employed 391 individuals who earned less than $9.25 per hour in 2018. Taking all wage changes into account, the park district expects to spend $54,000 more in 2020 and $119,00 more in 2021.

Library Crime Time
A criminal caper was on the loose at the Naper Boulevard Library last night. A Crime Time who-dun-it mystery game had participants act as detectives to crack the case of a missing manuscript. Library staff was interrogated as suspects and clues left behind helped detectives solve the case. Those who guessed the suspect correctly were rewarded with a mystery book. Check out the library website for more Crime Time events.
