Pratt Shooting Remembrance
Tomorrow will mark the one-year anniversary of the mass shooting at the Henry Pratt Company in Aurora that resulted in six deaths, including the shooter. The City of Aurora will mark the occasion tomorrow at the Henry Pratt Memorial Exhibit at the Aurora Historical Society. Reflections will begin at 1 p.m. with a period of silence at 1:24 p.m. to mark the moment the first call was made to 9-1-1 to report the Henry Pratt shooting.
5th Avenue Steering Committee Meeting
Naperville residents have a chance to weigh in on the most recent 5th Avenue Redevelopment concept proposed by Ryan Companies tomorrow. Ryan will present their concept to the 5th Avenue Steering Committee, who will decide whether to recommend the concept for final approval by Naperville City Council. The meeting will be held in Meeting Room B of the Municipal Center at 10:30 a.m. The concept can be viewed online on the city’s website.
Talking About Stalking
One in six women and one in 17 men will be stalked at some point in their lifetime, making awareness of the issue all the more important. Students and community members gathered at Benedictine yesterday for “Talking About Stalking” – an event put on by several area organizations to educate the public on stalking. Experts discussed the legal and behavioral definitions of stalking, how the crime has changed with social media, and how stalking can be addressed through the legal system.
Police Take The Polar Plunge
Members of the Naperville Police Department have committed to #BeBoldGetCold this winter by taking the 2020 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. The five team members have set a goal to raise $1,000 for Special Olympics Illinois before their plunge on March 1 in Yorkville.
