Recorder’s Office Consolidation

A DuPage County Board member is calling for the consolidation of the recorder’s office with the county clerk’s office. Downers Grove Democrat Elizabeth Chaplin recently suggested putting the question on the March primary ballot. DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek supports the idea, while County Board Chairman Dan Cronin wants to do a study first. He says a study would determine the effect of the merger and see if it would save the county money, reduce its head count, and improve transparency. Board Member Chaplin hopes to discuss the topic at meeting this month. The recorder’s office is the place of county property records.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association saw nearly 2,000 people take on the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The three-mile stride was meant to bring awareness for the disease, and raise money in hopes of one day finding a cure. Before the walk even began, participants held different colored flowers that represent a way Alzheimer’s impacts them. The single white flower held on stage symbolizes the first survivor they hope to find one day.

Over the Edge

Rapellers went over the edge for Operation Support Our Troops-America on Saturday. For the organization’s fundraiser this year, participants started campaigns online to raise at least $1,000. Those who reached the goal got to rappel down the 140-foot side of Hotel Arista. The organization hopes to raise $200,000 to help fund the veteran care and support services that they offer.
