Reward in Corner Pantry Burglary:
Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of those responsible for a burglary at Corner Pantry in Naperville. Around 6 a.m. on December 1, two people smashed the front window of the store at 1801 Wehrli Road to gain entry and commit burglary. One of the suspects may have been injured in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006. Anonymous tips are welcome.
Moser Tower Fate Postponed:
The fate of Moser Tower will not be decided this year. At this morning’s Riverwalk Commission meeting, city staff said the assessment of the 160-foot tall structure is complete, but the language on the report needs to be simplified so commissioners can better understand it. The hope is to present the Riverwalk Commission with the report in January, so they can assess it and make a recommendation to the City of Naperville after their February meeting. The options are to make repairs on the structure, at a cost of around $1.9 million; repair it and enclose it, at a cost of around $2.7 million; or demolish it, which would cost around $660,000.
District 204 Tax Increase:
Indian Prairie School District 204 residents will have an approximate 1.9% tax increase next year. At their latest board meeting, District 204 school board officials approved the 2019 tax levy, which was around $310 million. That’s an increase of 4.1% over last year’s tax levy, but the district says they’ll only receive about 3.7%. Due to tax caps and the consumer price index, the result for residents will be an approximate 1.9% tax increase. That means the owner of a $300,000 home would see an increase of around $95.
Chicago Wolves Player At Library:
Yesterday, Chicago Wolves player Jake Leschyshyn paid a special visit to the Naper Boulevard Library. The hockey center was there as part of the Chicago Wolves Read to Succeed program – an initiative presented by Butternut Bread and JULIE, Inc. to encourage kids to spend more time in libraries and see the benefits of reading. Kids were able to ask Jake questions, get an autograph, and take photos.
