Ribfest Begins
The tents are up, the rides are ready, and the ribs are cooking. The Exchange Club of Naperville’s 32nd annual Ribfest has begun at Knoch Park. The four-day fest features eleven ribbers at Ribber’s Row, while the North Park will be dominated by headlining musical acts. On the Navistar Main Stage today you’ll catch Living Colour, followed by Billy Idol at 8 p.m. On the Fourth of July check out KC & the Sunshine Band and headliner Flo Rida, along with a Lima Lima Air Show before fireworks finish off the evening. July 5 is country day with Brantley Gilbert, will follow Randy Houser and Naperville native Joe Hanson on stage. To close out the very last night at Knoch, The Empty Pockets, Grand Funk Railroad, and ZZ Ward will perform, before headliner Bad Company. Tons of local bands will also be performing on the South Stage. Proceeds from Naperville’s Ribfest go to agencies working to eliminate child abuse and domestic violence. It opens every day at noon and general admission tickets are only $5 online or $10 at the gate. More information can be found at ribfest.net.
Eyes to the Skies
This weekend you don’t have to just look up at fireworks. The Eyes to the Skies Hot Air Balloon Festival takes off this weekend at the Community Park in Lisle. The festival features a wide variety of balloons in all shapes and sizes, along with a kid’s carnival, craft area, and food vendors. The balloons take off at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., but it’s all weather dependent, so keep an eye on the festival’s social media pages for updates. Eyes to the Skies takes place July 4 through the 6th, while the carnival will be open starting today and goes through the 7th.
More Sliderz Champs
Congratulations go out to the Arkansas Razorbacks on winning the Naperville Sliderz Softball fifth and sixth grade championship. Arkansas made some big plays on defense in the final few innings to preserve the 9-1 victory. Another great park district softball season is in the books.
