SECA Reallocating Ribfest Funds
Last night, the Special Events and Cultural Amenities, or SECA, Commission discussed the reallocation of funds from both Christkindlemarket and Naperville Ribfest. The 2020 funds for Ribfest is $297,000, which needs to be reallocated due to the event moving to Romeoville that year. After much discussion, the group approved to focus one-third of the funds to new initiatives, one-third to expansions of existing projects, and one-third to fulfill projects that weren’t previously fully funded. Any further details on that decision will be discussed at their next meeting. The commission also discussed what to do with the $70,000 that had been awarded to Christkindlemarket this year, as it awarded before it was announced the holiday festival was leaving Naper Settlement. The commission ultimately tabled that decision to their next meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
