Second Safest City

Congratulations to Naperville for being ranked high on America’s Safest Cities list. The financial news site 24/7 Wall St named Naperville the second safest city in America, just behind Irvine, California. According to the report, Naperville’s violent crime rate in 2018 was 68.7 per 100,000 people, which is far less than the national rate of 369 incidents. The site looked at the FBI’s 2018 Uniform Crime Report to analyze violent crime rates in cities with at least 100,000 people.

Healing Field of Honor Postponed

Early onset snow has postponed the fourth Naperville Healing Field of Honor at Rotary Hill. The flag installation was scheduled for today, as a tribute to those who have served in our military. The Naperville Park District will monitor turf conditions to determine when they’re safe for the flags to be installed. Until then, the community is invited to purchase a flag, dedicate it to a veteran, or make a donation directly to Operation Support Our Troops-America, on healingfield.org.

Fall Back

This Sunday you’ll need to turn your clocks back for Daylight Saving Time. And as you fall back, the State Fire Marshall is also reminding residents it’s a good time to check and change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Remember that smoke alarms are required on every floor in the house and within 15 feet of every bedroom.

Volleyball Regional Champs

And congratulations go out to co-DVC champion Waubonsie Valley for winning its third straight regional plaque by defeating West Aurora in straight sets last night. The Warriors advance to face Plainfield North in the sectional semifinals.
