The smells of pancakes, sausage, and coffee filled the air at Naperville Central High School, drawing out more than 2500 people to the 63rd Kiwanis Club Pancake Festival.
Volunteers turned 640 pounds of pancake batter into 10,000 pancakes to serve at the all-you-can-eat breakfast, all for a good cause.
The club partnered with Loaves & Fishes this year to help raise money for its “Child Nutrition Initiative” as well as more than 25 other local charities.
“We really appreciate the community of Naperville supporting our event,” said Kiwanis Club of Naperville President Dick Nelson. “This is the 63rd year as I mentioned before. We have a good turnout; it’s a well-known event in the city. A lot of people come year after year and we welcome them back and hopefully they keep coming in the future.”
Junior high bands and choral groups from around Naperville provided entertainment throughout the event. There was also a kids’ corner for face-painting, games, and coloring.
