Since April, the library has been undergoing a facelift and remodel to better accommodate visitors.

“In a typical day at the 95th Street Library, about 2,200 people visit us, which we’re really proud of. Since we opened in 2003, we’ve had 6.5 million visitors. We are the second busiest library in the State of Illinois,” said Karen Dunford, the manager of the 95th Street Library.

All of these visitors have created the need for new flooring throughout the building, as well as increased workspaces and outlets.

This remodel will also create a dedicated teen space on the first floor, and 13 new study rooms on the second floor. The layout of each floor has also been altered to provide easier access to materials.

Construction is expected to wrap up in November, and the library is planning to throw a party to celebrate.
