Fun, philanthropy, and art and you’ve got the Chair Affair.
Bridge Communities is once again putting on it’s A Chair Affair fundraiser to benefit homeless families in DuPage County.
24 chairs and décor items have been transformed by local artists and put on display throughout the window fronts of Downtown Naperville.
“We are collaborating with artists who are taking pieces of furniture that may have been discarded, under appreciated, or gone unnoticed and transforming them into something beautiful that’s appreciated, valued, and seen for what its beauty actually is. Which is a metaphor for how some of the families at Bridge Communities may feel. Unseen, invisible, discarded, and have the ability to transform their lives into something beautiful and really shine,” explained Chad Pedigo, the director of community engagement at Bridge Communities.
Bridge Communities transitional housing program has 150 apartments available for homeless families in DuPage.
The first year of A Chair Affair raised enough to provide two homeless families shelter and services for a full year, and this year the hope is to be able to provide to five or six families.
Now through June 6 you can vote for your favorite chair on Bridge Communities’ website. On June 7 A Chair Affair live charity auction will be held at Elements on Water Street.
