One thousand people came out to Amazon’s hiring event in Romeoville, part of their massive national hiring initiative named “Amazon Jobs Day.”
On August 2 the retail giant held events across the country, looking to fill 50,000 jobs – 2,500 of which are for their Romeoville, Joliet and Monee fulfillment centers.
“Definitely a great turnout. A lot more than we expected, which is great. Amazon’s always hiring, so we’re so glad to see that so many people are wanting to come down, see the opportunities available that we have here at Amazon in this great region,” said Zeshan Kazmi, a spokesperson for Amazon.
Many applicants were offered jobs on the spot, but the company is still looking to fill open jobs. You can search openings by position and location at Amazon.com/jobs.
Across the country Amazon received 20,000 job applications on August 2 alone.
