The Illinois Arts Council awarded a $7,900 grant to the Naperville Park District which will support the Élan Dance Company, Magical Starlight Theatre, and Millennium Carillon programs.
Élan Dance Company has received grants from the Illinois Arts Council since 2009. The theatre and carillon funding was included for the first time this year.
“Arts is a big part of what we do as a park district,” said Director of Recreation Brad Wilson. “Providing opportunities for residents to participate in different aspects of the arts, whether that be performing arts, the visual arts. The grant funds that we receive actually help to support those programs to lessen the cost for participants or residents to be able to participate in those programs and we can offer more throughout the community.”
The park district applied for the dance, theatre, and music grant earlier this year.
