At the May DuPage County Board Meeting, Chairman Dan Cronin declared the month of May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in DuPage County.
Bill Liu, the Chairman of Chinese Community Outreach for the City of Naperville accepted the proclamation on behalf of DuPage’s Asian population.
Liu then discussed how DuPage is a welcoming community to Asian immigrants and encouraged those in attendance to reach out to their Asian neighbors to help foster stronger community ties.
Based on the latest census, over ten percent of DuPage County residents are Asian, with Naperville’s numbers even higher.
Asian Pacific American Heritage month is recognized nationally during the month of May.
