Person Rescued From Burning Car:

A person was rescued from a car that caught on fire after it crashed into a home on Edgewater Drive.

On Saturday around 3:20 p.m., the car ran off the road and into a home on the 800 block of Edgewater Drive, leaving the driver trapped inside and unresponsive. While units were responding, the locked car caught on fire. An officer and bystander on the scene were able to break the car window with the officer’s baton and rescue the driver, who was the only person in the car.

The driver was taken to Edward Hospital in stable condition. No one was in the home at the time of the crash.

Fire Quickly Extinguished:

A total of 24 personnel responded to the scene. They were able to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes and a foam agent was used to put out the burning gasoline leaking from the car.

The interior of the home was inspected to make sure no fire spread to it, and was deemed habitable by officials at the scene.

Police are still investigating to determine why the car veered off the road.
