Chavez Running for District 5 Seat:
A Naperville woman is throwing her hat into the race for a DuPage County Board District 5 seat.
Democrat Amy Chavez has announced her bid for the seat currently held by Republican James Healy. He recently announced he would not be seeking re-election, after serving 25 years.
Her Background:
Chavez has a degree in human resources, and has worked for Lucent Technologies and Allegran Pharmaceuticals. She’s done volunteer work for several groups, serving on the boards of Naper Elementary Home & School and We are ONE Naperville.
She and husband Andy are parents to 11-year-old twins, who attend Naperville School District 203 schools.
Also Running:
Also running as a Democrat in the March 2020 primary for that seat is Mary Jo Mullen of Lisle.
Kevin Coyne of Naperville is the only Republican who’s announced his run.
The winners of both parties in the primary will face off in the November 2020 general election. Only one seat is up for grabs on the District 5 board.
