Community Trees at Cantigny

The McCormick Museum is celebrating their eighth annual “community trees” event this year.

Seven different local charities, three of which are based in Naperville, decorated their own Christmas tree.

The non-profit organizations, including 360 Youth Services, Naperville Responds for Veterans, and The Resiliency Institute, trimmed their trees to showcase both their mission statement and Christmas spirit.

Museum visitors can vote for their favorite community trees and make donations to the organizations that decorated them.

Will Buhlig, Interim Director for The McCormick House at Cantigny Park, says, “a lot of these charities, most people don’t know, so we give them the opportunity to become familiar with these charities, get familiar with their missions, see what they do for the public, and maybe in the end donate or perhaps volunteer in the end for these organizations.”

Each participating group gets a $2,500 grant from the Robert R. McCormick foundation and the agency whose tree gathers the most votes receives an additional $2,500.
