District 203 has adopted its 2019-2020 budget.

About the Budget

At the board’s latest meeting the group approved a budget of $290.8 million in revenue and $282.9 million in expenditures.

There was a reduction of $400,000 in expenditures from the tentative version presented in May, which were removed due to being one-time items carried over from last year’s budget.

And $52,290 of that budget will be going toward a new way the community can engage with the district online.

“Let’s Talk” is a secure, cloud-based platform that will be installed on 203’s website to allow parents, students, and community members to ask the district questions, voice concerns, and provide comments with just one click.

“I think it’s going to hone our communications outward,” said Sinikka Mondini, the executive director of communications for 203. “Because we’ll see what people are asking, what kind of questions, where are we maybe missing the mark on our communications and where we’re going to enhance that.”

This will enhance the current Tip203 reporting system for bullying and treats, and comes after the purchase of the Remind services from last month – a secure way for employees to communicate with students.

“Let’s Talk” will be available on the district website in the next months and on the desktops of all student Chrome books.
