At last night’s District 203 Board of Education meeting, the board approved one late start day a week for all 203 high school students. Beginning in the coming school year, students at Naperville Central and North will begin classes at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays, and continue to start at 7:45 a.m. the other days of the school week. However, teachers will still arrive at the earlier time on Wednesdays and use the extra hour without students for weekly collaboration.
Also approved at the meeting, the new principal for Ranch View Elementary School, Angela Stallion.
“I’ll just take a moment to tell you how grateful I am for the opportunity, I very much look forward to serving as the principal of Ranch View, the students, the teachers, the community as well as District 203,” said Stallion. “Thank you very much.”
Stallion is replacing current Ranch View Principal Sue Salness, who will begin her role as Principal of Mill Street Elementary School next year.
The board also heard staff recommendations for the 2016 debt service levy.
“Included in this presentation is the recommendation for future abatement of the debt service levy, which if done will result in an average taxpayer savings of $40 per year, for the 206 tax levy,” said Chief Financial Officer for District 203, Brad Cauffman.
The board will vote on officially abating the levy at their March 20 meeting.
They also discussed new classes, curriculum and instructional resources, which will also be voted on at their next meeting.
