The district approved the sale of 25 acres of land for $7 million to MI Homes.
“There will be two closings on the property with one half of the purchase of $3.5 million paid at the initial closing and $3.5 million paid at the final closing and this about a 15 percent higher amount than we set for the minimum,” said Ares Dalianis, a partner with Franczek Radelet Law Firm.
The land was originally going to be used for the construction of Metea Valley High School, before a new location was selected.
The district has also been working on rolling out Chromebooks to every student for some time.
Last January, they approved a complete 1:1 implementation for middle schools and several pilot classrooms at the high school level for the 2016 – 2017 school year. The response to which has been very positive.
“The pilot really allowed them to expand not just beyond the four walls of the traditional classroom, but allow for their students to really personalize their own learning and take a step in really challenging themselves both in the classroom and outside the classroom,” said Louis Lee, Assistant Superintendent of High Schools with District 204.
Pending a vote at the next meeting, the start of the 2017 school year will see Chromebooks being given out to every high school student.
The district is also going to start piloting Chromebooks in elementary schools, with 1:1 implementation planned for 2018.
