A referendum asking voters whether the DuPage County Recorder of Deeds Office should be merged into the DuPage County Clerk’s Office could be on the March 2020 ballot.
Error in Document
The DuPage County Board was set to vote on the matter at their October 8 meeting. But an error in the wording of the documentation caused them to postpone their decision until their November 12 meeting.
Coming to an Agreement
The idea to eliminate the Recorder’s Office has been around for a while, but board member Liz Chaplin has proposed putting the question to voters on the March 2020 ballot.
Other board members think the November 2020 ballot would be a better choice. They think it would allow time for a cost savings study and to potentially have more voters weighing in.
