Fall Gleaning

Master gardeners were out at the Ron Ory Community Garden plots to do a little glean-up. They went through 500 plots, and gleaned more than 1,500 pounds of leftover produce from the season. All of the plants and vegetables were donated to Loaves & Fishes Community Services.

“Nothing goes to waste. Even though it’s a lot of fun and a lot of work growing this stuff, but in the end if we have anything left over, we always like to donate it so someone else could reap the benefits of someone else’s hard work,” said Garden Plot Ambassador Larry Gruette.

The plots are rented out during the growing season for those who like to garden but might not have the space. If you want to test out your green thumb, registration for garden plots opens up in the Spring.
