If you’re a frequent shopper at the Fox Valley Mall, you may have noticed some construction happening inside.
Bringing New Experiences
It’s all for the center court transformation into “Center Park”, bringing a whole new look and experience to the mall.
“I think this is the biggest thing this mall has done in terms of interior remodeling and redevelopment since 1998,” said the mall’s Senior General Manager Scott Samson. “It’s intentionally a design to give people another reason to come, to shop, to play, and to engage in a wide range of different activities. We’ll have programs [too]. [It’s] just to come out when the weather is crummy outside and let your kids just run in the grass.”
What’s Included
The 13,000-square-foot park will be an open grassy area to include a fountain, sculptures, a small stage, and, most notably, an 800-square-foot tree house platform on the second level.
“We call it the tree house because there will be a spiral staircase going inside the column in the base of the tree, up to this platform overlooking the park,” added Samson. “As a place to hangout, to be with friends, to meet others, and that will be pretty iconic and will really anchor this.”
Phase One & Two
While the tree house won’t be complete until the spring, the rest of “Center Park” on the lower level will be finished by Thanksgiving.
That’s when the Fox Valley Mall will put on their Holiday Kick-Off celebration, to unveil the park and welcome the start of the shopping season.
