Local athlete Grace Seiboldt got the gold at the Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle.
With her family and friends cheering on from the stands, the swimmer competed and excelled in four races on Team Illinois.
“I just won my gold medal in my 200 individual medley, a silver medal in my 400 freestyle, a white ribbon in my 200 breaststroke, and another gold medal in my 4X100 IM relay,” explained Grace.
And Grace not only won big, she also made quite the impression on those watching.
“So for Grace’s 200 IM we were approached right after the race, she finished with a time of 03:24:44, which a scout for Team USA Paralympics Swimming said that [almost] set the world women’s record for the 200 IM,” said Chris Seiboldt, Grace’s older brother.
Come October, Grace will head to Orlando, Florida to the Team USA swim facility where she’ll train to see if she can compete in the Paralympic World Championship in Australia next year.
