The DuPage County Board voted to continue to help finance the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
About the Hazardous Waste Facility
The board approved an agreement to provide up to $100,000 to help fund operation of the collection site, which is one of just four of its type in Illinois.
The site is a drop-off for items like household cleaners, oil-based paints and asbestos materials.
Those For and Against
The majority of users for the facility are from Naperville, a fact that caused some board members to wonder if DuPage County should continue to help foot the bill. While some board members maintained that educating the public about the facility and promoting it more would help increase others in the county to use it.
Additional funding for the facility comes from Naperville, Aurora, and Kane and Will counties.
