Screening for colorectal cancer is critical to catch the disease early, according to Dr. Gibson of Edward Medical Group.
Beginning at age 50, men and women of average risk should have a stool test every year and one of the following – a flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years, colonoscopy every ten years, double contrast barium enema every five years or virtual colonoscopy every five years.
If you have a family history or are at higher risk, check with your doctor for your screening schedule.
