Little Friends honored Dan Casey with the first Dottee Krejci Memorial Award for Distinguished Service at the 42nd Little Friend’s Benefit Auction.

Little Friends’ President and CEO Mike Briggs, presented Casey with the honor.

“Tonight we are announcing a new award at Little Friends that recognizes support and contribution to the organization that has gone above and beyond expectations,” Briggs said. “The person we are recognizing has given time talents and treasure, all things that have shaped Little Friends today. Ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to recognize Dan Casey as the first recipient of the Dottee Krejci Memorial Award for Distinguished Service.”

Casey has served on the Little Friends Board of Directors since 2010 and is currently the board’s chairman.

“I’m humbled to receive the award,” Casey said. “Because I look at this as I was lucky enough to be in the middle of a group of people that stepped up and contributed and did what we needed to do to further this organization.”

The award was created this year following Dottee Krejci’s death last September. Her son, Mike attended the function and said, though he doesn’t know Casey personally, he’s pleased the award is going to someone who does so much for the community.

“I think it’s a tribute to her legacy at Little Friends,” Krejci said. “We’re all very proud of her. She was always very proud of Little Friends and we’re essentially very proud of this organization as well.”
